PowerRail, North America’s leading distributor of aftermarket locomotive parts and components, has collaborated with PS Technology (PST) on a training simulator for operating a locomotive.
PowerRail's engineering department worked to perfect the design and specifications of the simulator, and partnered with the fabrication team at PowerRail on the actual build. The final steps include the electrical wiring and the installation of PST’s software.
PST is a railroad software company that designs numerous solutions for the rail industry, including training software, as well as efficiency and safety tests.
After producing such an innovative new product, PowerRail decided to build a set to have on-site at the corporate office in Exeter, PA. These simulators are available to their local customers for engineering training. The full-size simulator is built to allow an individual to feel and see what a locomotive operator would experience, including accurate train movement, sounds of the engine, and a working throttle. Also available for training purposes is a smaller desktop model. This compact version maintains key functionalities of the bigger simulator, while allowing for easier on-site demonstrations without the large scale full-size model.
